A private stay takes different preparation depending on whether you travel with a skipper. The right choice depends on your sailing experience, the area you hope to visit, the vessel and whether your group wants to handle the boat or be guided. CELVINE considers both arrangements for some stays; neither is automatically available for every offer.
Sailing with a skipper
A professional skipper handles the vessel within the agreed contract. Their navigation and safety decisions apply to everyone on board. They may adjust stops, times or anchorages when the weather or safety requires it. This arrangement lets your group enjoy the journey without taking responsibility for sailing the catamaran.

Travelling without a skipper
Without a skipper, the person in charge takes responsibility for navigation and manoeuvres. Before confirming this kind of charter, the operator assesses whether that person has suitable experience for the boat, area and planned trip. A questionnaire or supporting documents may be required. Wanting to sail independently does not guarantee that the option can be offered for every destination.

Compare the terms before deciding
Ask your quote to specify the boat, sailing area, guest count, included services, additional costs and applicable insurance and deposit conditions. If a skipper is involved, their role and payment arrangements should be explained separately. The best choice is the one suited to your group and the actual sailing conditions, rather than a promise of unrestricted freedom.
